Small Variable Bore Ram

These Variable Bore Ram (VBR) packers with the new and improved straight sided metal inserts that limit upward rubber extrusion from well bore pressure between the segments and the pipe as shown. The segments are also overlapped to limit upward rubber extrusion between them. The rubber should be compressed and sealing around the drill pipe and not extruding upward. Variable Bore Ram (VBR) packers are expensive and longer working life is a cost saving measure. Day rate is saved by changing fewer Variable Bore Ram (VBR) packers. It is important to understand that the rig personnel do not have to worry which Variable Bore Ram (VBR) packer goes into which ram block.
